Happy Synthesizer Hatsune Miku Headphones

Hey guys! So I found this post on a blog or whateves and it's quite awesomeness. ^^ You can follow the tutorial but you'll need to add/change a few things. :)

1. The headphones need to be light pink
2. They need to be more heart-shaped
3. Black bows in the center of both of the headphones

Happy Synthesizer Hatsune Miku Cosplay

Hey guys! I was searching through my Vocaloid music library and I found the song Happy Synthesizer! I love this song especially 96neko and Len's version. ^^ So I decided to search around and I found Miku's Happy Synthesizer outfit! Yey! So I will now show you how simple this outfit is to put together. ^w^

STEP 1: Reference pic!

STEP 2: Gathering materials
  • A blue, white polka dotted, collared, button down shirt
  • A fuzzy white open mini vest
  • A pink pleated skirt
  • Two brown leather straps (1 inch wide and 8 inches long)
  • Leather puncher
  • Two small brass buckles
  • Sewing machine
  • A pair of black knee high socks
  • A pair of black wrist length gloves
  • A pair of light brown boots
  • Headphones (will be done in another tutorial)
STEP 3: If you can find the shirt without sleeves then good for you! ^^ If not then that's ok, all you have to do is cut the sleeves off so that there's about 1/4 inch left before the seams then fold the seams into the shirt so that it's kind of like a hem and sew it. Make sure to sew right next to the original seam that held the sleeve to the shirt. This will make it have a nice look to it. :)

STEP 4: Now if you can't find a pink pleated skirt then here's a link to another tutorial that shows you how to make one: http://thecosplaychronicles.blogspot.com/2010/02/how-to-cosplay-pleated-skirt.html?m=1 I think the only change you'll have to make is the lengths of the waistband and pleats so that you can get the same look as in the pic above. You'll use the leather strips and buckles to make the details on the skirt. All you have to do is cut the strips into two pieces so that one measures 3.5 inches and the other 4.5, do this to both strips. The shorter one is the one you'll attach the buckle to and the other is the part that you thread through. Use the leather punch to punch the holes so that you can buckle the two pieces together. Then when you have both buckles made sew them to the skirt. Make sure to fold in the ends of the strips so that it gives it a more professional look. :)

STEP 5: For the vest, if you can't seem to find a mini vest then you can find one that looks like the one in the reference pic and hem it at home so it fits your needs. :D Or you can get a pattern and fabric and make one yourself! ^^

All of the other stuff you can buy at the dollar store or a thrift shop. :) I will post another tutorial for the headphones. :) Thanx for clicking on this post! Every view counts! XD Please follow and subscribe to me on YouTube: animefangirl1221! ^w^

Kagamine Twins Append Cosplays!!!!

Heys everyone. :) So for the past, idk, month or two? I've been obsessing over the song Electric Angel sung by the Kagamine Twins. Specifically the Append cosplays that they wear during the Project Diva dance vid. :) So I have finally decided that I am going to make their cosplays. ^w^ This will be a huge project considering that I don't have a sewing machine of my own. ~_~ Yeah, I'm so not prepared for this. ^_^;;;;; Hehe. . . Hopefully I can make my cosplays by the time the next con I can go to rolls around.

Also, this project will be broken into several parts. Some of the tutorials will be able to be used for both of the cosplays like the headphones and belts. Others will be for a specific twin's cosplay like the shirts and the shorts.

I will try to post the tutorials as soon as I can!!! XD Thanx for finding my blog and please stick with me! :)

Merry Christmas!!!!!! XD

Hey guys! Merry Christmas to all of you!!! XD Right now I would post a special Christmas tutorial, but I have yet to do much these past two or so months. I still have yet to finish my Synchronicity Miku staff so that I can film and post the tutorial vid. ^^; There are also all of the projects that I have finished and not made tutorials for that I've been putting off. ^^;;; Yeah, I'm a really big procrastinator. ~_~ Are you a citizen of Procrasti-Nation? XD Isn't that totally funny?! :'D Yeah I'm totally high on sugar right now. XXXDDD Alright that's all for now! See you soon!!! XD

Random Tip #2

The pros and cons of hand sewing and machine sewing. It may look a little bias, and it is. That's because I tend to use hand sewing a lot more than a sewing machine because I don't have one that actually works. ^^; So yeah, well here you go!

HAND SEWING

Pros:
Quiet
Easier to do small things like very detailed embroidery
Easier to work with thicker fabrics and more folds of fabric
Very portable
Doesn't cost that much

Cons:
Takes a really long time to sew large projects like Cheshire's gloves (manga version)
Very hard to keep your stitches straight
Less professional look
Can be a lot harder for beginners, but practice makes perfect!

MACHINE SEWING

Pros:
Easy to use (sometimes ^^;)
Has a more professional look
Takes a lot less time to complete larger projects
Depending on what kind of sewing machine you have or get, it can be easier to use than had sewing

Cons:
Not portable
Loud (well louder than hand sewing)
Costs a lot more than hand sewing, you can buy one at a DI or any other thrift store :)
Uses electricity which in turn can raise your electrical bill if you use it a lot

Magnet Mikuo Cosplay

Hey guys. This is going to be a really easy tutorial because I don't really have to do that much work with this cosplay. :) So yeah, this is a really simple cosplay and I bet you can probably find most if not all of the clothing  in your closet or your brother or dad's closets. :D Yep so here's the tutorial!

STEP 1: Reference Picture!! XD

You can use either of these styles. I've seen mor but these are the more common ones that are online. :)

STEP 2: Gathering Materials:
  • A black, long sleeve, button down shirt or black wide strap tank top
  • Black pants (jeans would be best)
  • A pair of black shoes
  • A pair of black fingerless gloves (optional)
  • Teal tie (optional, for the button down)
  • Magnet headphones of the right color
STEP 3: If you can't find any fingerless black gloves then just buy a pair of gloves then cut the fingers off.

STEP 4: For the headphones, go to the tutorial post named Hatsune Miku Magnet Headphones. The only big change will be that there's no hat on Mikuo's headphones. Other than that everything's the same. :)

And I think that's it! See how easy that was? The only real time consuming thing in this cosplay is the headphones. Other than that there's very little effort put into this cosplay. Which makes it a very good candidate for that last minute cosplay for the con next week or something like that. The only downside to this cosplay is that you have to buy most of the stuff. You can re-use some of the stuff that you already have for this cosplay in order to cut down on the cost. :)

Hatsune Miku Love is War Shirt and Armband

Hello to the world and beyond. :) This time I'll be posting about Miku's Love is War shirt and the armband. From the pics that I've looked at and found it seems like a really easy thing to make. :D So now that I've given my little message here's the tutorial! XD

STEP 1: Reference Picture!! XD

STEP 2: Gathering materials:

SHIRT:
  • A black, collared shirt with breast pockets (you can probably get away without the pockets)
  • Teal fabric (buy lots if you're going to make the whole cosplay cause no two bolts of fabric are the same color)
  • Scissors
  • Needle and teal thread
  • Flexible measuring tape
  • Sewing pins
  • Paper and pen/pencil (optional)
ARMBAND:
  • Teal and black fabric
  • A needle and thread
  • Flexible measuring tape
  • Sewing pins
  • Iron-on printer paper (for the heart)
  • Paper and a pen/pencil
  • Scissors
STEP 3: Take your collared shirt and measure around the outside edge of the collar. This measurement will be the length of the optional pattern that you can make. The height will be 1 inch. This strip of fabric will be the outside colored boarder on the collar. Take the newly cut strip of fabric and "hem" it aroun the outside edge of the collar.

STEP 4: Next, measure from the neckline to the end of the sleeve onto of your shoulder. This will be the length of the colored strip on the shoulder and sleeve. The width is 1 - 1 1/2 inches wide. You can make a pattern if you want to. Cut it out twice, one for each shoulder. Then take the strips and sew them to the shoulders of the shirt. Curl in the edges so that the raw edges are hidden and it has a "hemmed" look too it. When you're done with that you're done with the shirt! XD

STEP 5: Now on to the armband. Take your measuring tape and measure the circumference of you middle upper arm. This will be the length of your armband. The width should be 7 inches, is also includes seam allowance. :) When you've made your pattern, pin it to your teal fabric and cut it out again. Then unpin the pattern from the fabric. Hem the long sides of the rectangle.

STEP 6: Take the same length measurement from before but the length this time the width will be two inches. Instead of using the teal fabric you'll use the black fabric and cut out two of these. One for the top and one for the bottom. :) Fold the black strips into thirds and pin them to the top and bottom of the armband, each a half inch away from the edges. Sew them.

STEP 7: Now onto the heart symbol. Here's a template for the heart symbol that goes in the middle of the armband:
This is the only one I could find online that wasn't colored teal. So I guess just color it in black on the computer? Well I'm not sure. Then when you have your template colored, print it out on regular paper several times, each time adjusting the size until you get the size you want. When you finally get the size right, print it out on the iron-on paper. Then iron the picture onto the armband while following the instructions for the iron-on paper. Also make sure that the heart is centered.

STEP 8: When you've ironed the heart onto the sleeve, take the ends of the rectangle that still have raw edges and line them up. When you do this, it should be folded in half and the heart should be on the inside. Sew the two ends together and flip it inside out so that the heart is on the outside. Put it on to make sure that it fits correctly. :) Resew if necessary so that the armband fits snugly around your arm so that it doesn't fall off when you move your arm. :)

Yey! Now you are two steps closer to completing your Hatsune Miku Love is War cosplay! XD View the following link to make Miku's skirt: http://simplecosplaytutorials.blogspot.com/2013/10/hatsune-miku-love-is-war-skirt.html?m=1

Hatsune Miku Love is War skirt

Hey guys! I found this tutorial a while back and have decided to post it here. You can use this tutorial for a whole range of pleated skirts and sorts. :) There are a couple of tutorials that I've found that aren't as awesome as this one but I chose this one to share with you guys. :D So enjoy!!!

Magical Nuko ☆ Len Len Gloves

Hello everyone! This is the first of a series of tutorials for this specific Len cosplay. :) For all of the tutorials I will be using the same reference pic for all six tutorials. :) I know, it's a lot of tutorials but I'm up for the challenge! :D This tutorial will be so super duper simple that I'm not sure if I should put up a tutorial for it.

STEP 1: Reference Picture!! :D

STEP 2: Gathering materials:
  • A pair of white gloves (length: to the wrist)
  • Baby blue ribbon
  • Hot glue and hot glue gun
  • Yellow fabric
  • Needle and yellow thread
  • Flexible measuring tape
  • Sewing pins
  • Scissors
  • Printer paper
  • Pencil/pen

STEP 3: Take your gloves and make sure that they fit your hands. Then take the flexible measuring tape and measure the circumference of the bottom of the glove.

STEP 4: Take the circumference of the glove bottom (this is your width) and 1 inch (this is your height) and make your pattern. Cut out your pattern and pin it to your folded yellow fabric. Cut out the pattern of fabric and you should end up with two copies of the paper pattern in yellow fabric.

STEP 5: Take your strips of fabric and pin them to your gloves in a "hemmed" fashion. Now sew them.

STEP 6: When you're done sewing the yellow boarders onto the gloves take your ribbon and cut a foot or so. Then take the ribbon and tie it into a neat bow. Repeat for the other bow.

STEP 7: When both of your bows are tied, heat up your hot glue gun and hot glue the bows to your gloves.

OPTIONAL: If you don't want to glue the bows to the gloves then take some velcro and hot glue the hook part to the backs of the bows and the fuzzy parts to the gloves. You can also sew the velcro to the gloves and bows. Then you'll be able to remove the bows whenever you want to use the gloves for something else.

Thank you to everyone that has visited my tiny blog. :) It grows every time someone views a post or follows me. :) Yep, so I will see how long it takes me to get the tutorial vid out, so please be patient with me. My computer access is limited for some things (aka I can't get onto YouTube from my home computer. D:< ).

Hatsune Miku Magnet Headphones

Hey guys! Here's my awesome tutorial for Hatsune Miku's Magnet Headset. :) Lets hope that it doesn't totally fail on me. ^^; I've been wanting to make these for a while because they're the only thing that I'm missing from my Miku Magnet cosplay. >:T Well actually that's not completely true, I'm also missing the gloves, but I think I can get away with not having them. :) This tutorial is for the full size bulky photo shoot headphones. I'll be making another tutorial for headphones that are more comfortable to wear at a convention. :) But yeah, here's the tutorial!

STEP 1: Reference picture!! XD

STEP 2: Gathering materials:
  • A headband
  • Black Sharpie
  • Black paint (optional)
  • Thick foam board
  • A jumbo paper clip
  • Hot glue sticks and hot glue gun
  • Mini hat (see Mini Hats on a Budget  Tutorial for instructions)
  • Masking Tape
  • Paper
  • Heavy books
  • Elmer's Liquid Glue
  • Scissors
  • A pen
  • Hot pink card stock
  • A craft knife or sharp pocket knife (so to cut out the designs in the butterfly template)
  • Pliers (option to use for straightening the paper clip)
  • Magnet butterfly and earpiece templates:

STEP 3: On a Mac (which is what I use) the butterfly should be 'fit to page' and the earpieces should have both pieces on one sheet of paper. The pic itself should be 50% of the actual size. WARNING: you should probably print out the butterflies mirrored to each other. I didn't do that so I had to cut it out and color the back side black. ^^;

STEP 4: Take your templates and cut them out. Then take your craft knife or sharp pocket knife and painstakingly cut out all of the white designs from the butterfly templates. Be careful when useing a knife, they are very sharp and pointy.

STEP 5: Take your newly cut butterfly templates and glue them to your card stock. Place a piece of paper in between the flat surface, the butterflies and the stack of books. These papers prevent the glue from drying on the surface, the other 'wing' and the stack of books on top of them. Now place the card stock under a stack of heavy books and on a flat surface so that they will dry flat. Then wait for the glue to dry for the whole day and the following night. This allows the glue to dry all the way before we disturb it. :)

STEP 6: After the templates have dried completely take them and cut them out again. If your card stock is not the color that you want, you can color the designs so that it suites your taste. :)

STEP 7: When you've cut out the wings take the earpieces and cut them out if you hadn't already and glue them to your wings. But before you glue them take one of earpieces and trace it onto your foam. You'll use this foam in the next step. As an optional step you can glue them to card stock so that they have a more rigid look and feel to them, otherwise just cut them out and paste 'em. Place the earpieces (at least, if not the whole thing if you want) under the stack of heavy books on a flat surface so that they will dry flat. :)

STEP 8: Once they're dry, take the stack of books off of the wings. Now take your foam and cut out the two circles that you've previously traced onto the foam. These circles will be the base part of your actual headphone that you'll glue to the headband. Heat up you hot glue gun, while you wait put on the headband and place the foam circles under each side so that they look how you want them to look. :) Then take a pen and mark where the end of the headband is. The mark should look something like a sideways bracket - ] this is just so that you know where to glue the headband to the circles. :) When your hot glue gun is heated up take it and glue the circles to the headband then wrap masking tape around the whole thing. (I don't have a pic of this but you can see it in the vid I will try to post soon. :D )

STEP 9: Now when they dry all the way take your butterflies and hot glue them to the foam circles that you've glued to the headband. Make sure to wear the headband during this step so that the butterflies aren't off center or anything like that. :)
Color the edges of the headphones so that there's no foam uncolored.

STEP 10: Now that you've glued the butterflies to the headphones it's time to make the microphone! XD It's super duper easy to make. All you have to do is take your jumbo paper clip and straighten it out as much as you can. Then, with the headphones on, stick the paper clip into the right headphone. Have someone help you adjust it so that it's in the right position. Take out the paper clip and place some hot glue on top of the hole that it has left then push the paper clip back into the hole. Adjust it while the glue is still hot or it'll be impossible to get it at the right angle! >~< Now take the scraps of the foam and cut a small rectangle piece. This is for the actual microphone bit for the end of the paper clip. :) Color/paint it black with the two red stripes on the front. Stick it onto the end of the wire, adjust before gluing. When it's in the right place, glue it.

STEP 11: You're almost done with your headphones! XD Yey! All you have to do now is glue the mini hat to the top of the headband and you're done! So, if look in the pics or even in other pics Miku's hat is shifted to the right so that it's off center. For this part have someone help you, so you take the hat place it where you want it and keep a mental note of where it was so that when you remove the hat you'll know where to put the hot glue. You'll place the glue in two places once directly on the headband and the other on a little piece of black ribbon. Take the ribbon and make it go across the headband so that most of the length is on either side of the headband and only a small section is actually on the headband. Let the glue cool and you've got a new set of Magnet Miku headphones! XD

Thanx to everyone who views this tutorial and all of my other ones! It hasn't been a year yet and I'm already receiving views from around the world! Please comment and such! I would love your feedback! :D

Here's a few of the pics I took of me in my Miku Magnet cosplay. :)

Kagamine Rin's Headphones and Bow

Hey guys! I was surfing around YouTube a couple of days ago and I found this tutorial vid for Rin's headphones and bow. I've watched it at least three times and it's really simple and it's easy to follow. It doesn't cost that much either. All you have to buy is the craft foam, the headband and the colored paper. All of which costs very little, you can get the headband at a dollar store, the foam you can probably find it in the craft section at Walmart or something like that. You can also find the colored paper at Walmart. :) So yeah, well here's the link and have an awesome time making your headphones and bow! I will try to post pics of my own set of headphones.

Italy's Flag from Hetalia

This tutorial will be so short and simple that you'll cry in embarrassment because you never thought of doing it this way. :D But really, this project will take you maybe a half hour to an hour to make depending on how pro you are at sewing.

STEP 1: Reference Pic, all the flag is a rectangle of white fabric on a stick with all of the edges hemmed so that the fabric won't fray. Here's a pic anyway. :)

STEP 2: Gathering materials and stuff, you'll need-
White fabric
A wooden flagpole (like the one from one of those mini American flags)
A needle and white thread
Sewing machine (optional)
Sewing pins
Scissors (optional)

STEP 3: Measure out the amount of fabric that is desirable to you. Cut it as needed.

STEP 4: Roll and pin the hems on all sides. You don't want the hems to be too big or your flag will look a bit awkward when everything's said and done.

STEP 5: Sew the hems then take one of the shorter sides and make a pocket for the stick to slide in. Sew two of the three sides of the pocket so that only one end is open.

STEP 6: Slide the stick into place and ta da! You've got a white flag!

As you can tell this is a super easy tutorial and almost everyone that has just a bit of sewing skills can do this project. :) It's the rest of the Italy cosplay that's hard to make. ^_^; So yeah, enjoy your new flag! :D Also, please visit my YouTube page and please leave comments and reviews below. :D

Cheshire's Tail from Pandora Hearts

Hey guys! Well I was looking through my tutorial drafts and I found this one that didn't have anything typed up except the title. So I've decided to create this tutorial and give it to you, the public. :) So there's my speel, now onto the tutorial!! XD

STEP 1: Reference Picture!! XD

STEP 2: Gathering Materials:

  • Black and white fabric
  • Scissors
  • Needle and thread (thread colors: black and white)
  • Flexible measuring tape
  • 1 inch strip of Velcro
  • Cotton balls/batting
  • Hot glue gun and glue

STEP 3: Measure however long you want your tail to be then subtract about four inches. This will be the measurement for your black fabric. The four inches that you subtracted is the measurement for the white fabric. Next make a pattern. The black should start at being 2-2 1/2 inches wide then taper down to about one inch at the end. The white fabric should be one inch wide and one side needs to be rounded. This side will be used as the end of the tail.

STEP 4: Cut out the patterns. You should have two white pieces and two black pieces. Sew the white pieces to the black pieces so that you have two 2D copies of the tail. Then sew the to tails together then flip it inside out. Stuff the newly sewn tail with the cotton balls/batting.

STEP 5: When your tail is stuffed, tuck the ends in at the wide end of your tail and sew them together. Heat up the hot glue gun and glue the hook-y part of the Velcro to the tail and the fuzzy part to the pants. You can also sew the Velcro, I recommend that you use a sewing machine for that. ;)

STEP 6: If you have your pants already, then you can put the Velcro on. Before you do that, you'll want to make sure to figure out where you want to put it so that your tail is nice and centered or it'll look funny. >~< Once you have that figured out sew/hot glue the fuzzy part of the Velcro to that spot.

And there you go! A beautiful Cheshire tail just for you! :D Thanx for reading this tutorial. I will see if I can get a tutorial vid up soon. I can't guarantee when though. ^^;

Random Tip #1

Hey guys. I've decided to start a new thing called "Random Tips". These tips could and will be about anything and everything. There can also be two or three tips in one post, so I guess that instead of being one tip for every post it's one post for however many tips I like. So here's my very first random tip:

Wig Care- Non heat resistant wigs like temps 160 degrees or lower and they also like to be treated with a four part water one part fabric softener mixture.

School has Started!!!! XD

Well I want to tell you guys that school started this past Wednesday, so that means that I might not be able to get as many tutorials done as I would like to. ^_^;;; So please bear with me until I can find the time to do more tutorials. I still have three or four that are a work in progress so please look forward to that. :D Thanx for your patience! XD

Synchronicity Hatsune Miku Staff. . .Sort of

Hello everyone. ^w^ Well here's a tutorial for Synch Miku's staff. I've been able to find only one online and it was priced just over $90 and I decided not to spend that much money on one item where as I can buy a whole Cosplay from Taobao for the same amount or less. I love Taobao, the only catch is that the website is in Chinese. They do have really good bargains on cosplays and such. Example: my Synchronicity Len cosplay, I bought it off of Taobao for $40. The only things it didn't come with were the shoes, wig, sword, and bass cleft necklace. Wow, I got sidetracked. Hehe. . . ^^; So here's the tutorial now!

STEP 1: Finding a reference pic. Here's a couple that I found a while ago:

STEP 2: Now you must gather your materials. This is a very super cheap way to make the staff so please bear with it or find one off line.
  • The cardboard rolls from paper towels or toilet paper (paper towels are better because they're smaller than toilet paper rolls)
  • Metallic Gold or Silver paint (liquid or spray, I don't think it matters)
  • A sponge brush (if you choose to use liquid paint)
  • Masking tape
  • Newspaper or any other paper
  • A small bowl with a water/flour mixture (this mixture should look like a paste)
  • Thin sturdy wire (optional)
  • Short piece of thicker copper wire
  • Thick Cardboard/Foam (this is for the top of the staff)
  • A Sharpie
  • Scissors
  • A knife with a small blade

STEP 3: Take your cardboard rolls and tape them end to end with the masking tape. The height should be a few inches above the top of your head. Then set it aside for later.

STEP 4: Take your thick cardboard/foam and trace your design on it. I used this foam-like stuff that came in a boxed package, it's very thick and cuts easily. When you have your design drawn out on your cardboard or foam cut it out. I recommend that you use the scissors for the outer and the knife for the triangles.

STEP 5: Then take the main part of your staff, the short piece of wire, and the masking tape. Place the neck of the top part of the staff into the hole at the top then take your wire and poke it through both the cardboard/foam and the top cardboard tube. Then bend the ends so that they are parallel the the staff itself. Then wrap the ends in two layers of masking tape. Set it aside for later use.

STEP 6: Take your paper mâché that you've mixed in a small bowl and your paper. Cut the paper into one inch strips, then one by one dip the strips into the paper mâché and then place it onto the staff. Do this in sections then let them dry completely before moving to another section. If you do more than one strip tall section then your staff will bend because of the weight and wetness of the cardboard. To also help the staff dry straight you can spread out newspaper on the floor or your kitchen table then lay your wet staff across the paper so that you don't get any of the sticky paper mâché all over whatever you're us ring as a platform. Also, to make your staff stronger add more layers evenly across your staff.

STEP 7: Now it's time to make the six wire rings that hang on the two spirals at the top of the staff. You can make them as big or small as you want. I would suggest that you make them proportionate to your staff top. All you have to do is take your wire and cut pieces that are the size that you want. Then curl the pieces to make circles. Repeat for all of the rings.

STEP 8: When your whole staff has been covered, including the top decorative part, and you have your six rings made. It's time to break out the paint!!! XD I would suggest spray paint for the bulk of the staff then use the liquid paint for getting where you couldn't with the spray. Just make sure that your colors are really close to the same color or it'll look weird. Let your staff dry somewhere where no one will bother it. After it's dry you might want to put on another coat or two so that you can't see any of the newsprint through the paint. You can also paint your rings if you want too.

Well there you go! A Synchronicity Hatsune Miku staff. It's not the best way to make her staff but I guess it'll do for that convention in short notice or whatever. I guess you could make a better one out of wood, but this tutorial is for people that want a simple and easy tutorial. I hope you enjoy! ^_^ I will try to post pics for all steps but for the meantime this is all I have. ^_^;

Synchronicity Hatsune Miku Shoes

Hey everyone! Here's a super duper easy tutorial for Synch Miku's shoes that I can't seem to find anywhere online. There's probably a dozen or so different ways to make her shoes but this is the method that I will be posting. :)

STEP 1: Reference Pic!

STEP 2: Gathering materials:
  • A pair of black low heeled shoes/boots (1 inch at the most)
  • Teal ribbon (get the color to be as close to the rest of the cosplay as possible)
  • Hot glue gun + glue
  • Velcro (optional)
  • Flexible measuring tape
  • Scissors
  • Paint, brush, and sealant (optional)
STEP 3: Take your measuring tape and shoes. First put your shoes on, then have someone help you measure out the amount of ribbon you need. Your measuring tape should wrap around your calf twice so the two ribbons make two X's in front. Then wrap it around again so it encircles your calf again, this will be the top where you tie your ribbons. Make sure to leave extra ribbon so that you're able to tie it in a bow.

STEP 4: The ribbon will be attached to the shoe's heel so that when you put it on it will be a bit under your foot as you can see in the pic above. All together you'll be using (approx.) 2 spools of ribbon maybe a little less depending on how thick your legs are. When you've finished measuring cut the ribbon and mark where the middle is.

STEP 5: Heat up your hot glue gun and glue the middle of the ribbon to the back of the heel just under your own heel. When it's glued put on the shoe, lace it up, and tie it. Make adjustments as needed. :) Repeat for the other shoe.

And there you go! A pair of Synchronicity Hatsune Miku shoes! :D The colored bottom of the shoe is optional. To do that get some teal paint and paint the bottoms of your shoes then seal them so that the paint doesn't wear away or chip. :) Thanx for being awesome and reading this post! Please spread the word about my blog!

Cheshire Cat's Shirt

Hello everyone!!! :D Well here's my tutorial for Cheshire's Shirt from Pandora Hearts. I'm not sure when I'll make a video for this one but in trying something new and putting more pics in this tutorial than in any of the others. :) Please comment and tell me which version of the tutorials that you like best! :D

STEP 1: Finding a reference picture. I don't think I'll post a link for this tutorial, but if you like go check out my other Cheshire tutorials.

STEP 2: Gathering materials, the materials that you will be needing are as follows:

  • A red T-shirt, actually you can use any sort of red shirt. The only kind you can't use is one that is a button up I would also recommend that the shirt be a turtle neck so that it will be closer to what Cheshire wears than a shirt without that feature. I'll be using a scoop neck tee not a V neck.
  • Scissors
  • Needle and thread (a sewing machine is optional but you'll need the needle and thread for the X's on the front of his shirt)
  • Sewing pins
  • White fabric
  • Black yarn
  • Paper
  • Pen, pencil, whatever you want to use to draw your pattern with :)
  • Hot glue gun with glue
STEP 3: Take your shirt, if it has sleeves like mine then you'll need to cut them off. Make sure to leave at least an inch of the sleeve on so that you can hem it. Now that you've cut the sleeves off it's time to hem the shirt. What I did was fold the extra inch of fabric in along the seam of the existing sleeve then I sewed along the edge.

On the right I have cut the sleeve off and on the left the sleeve is still intact

STEP 4: If you take a close look at Cheshire's shirt you'll see that both the front and back have a sort of V shape to it. So to get that look, cut and hem a triangle shape into the bottom of the shirt. Make sure that the triangle is centered before cutting it out. :) This step is optional, you can do this but I didn't.

STEP 5: Fold your shirt so that the newly cut and hemmed sleeves are in front and back. The front of your shirt should be folded down the middle. Before you start cutting you should probably make a pattern for the rectangles on the front of the shirt. The rectangle should be 2-4 inches wide, whatever is proportional to your body. :) Then about 20 inches long. After drawing and cutting out your pattern pin it to the shirt and make sure that you center it before cutting. Now that you have your pattern centered and pinned it's time to cut it out!

STEP 6: After you've cut out your rectangles take that same pattern and cut out two rectangles the same size plus an extra inch. Unfold your shirt and flip it inside out. Pin your white rectangles to the insides of the two rectanglular holes on the front of your shirt. Be sure not to sew right on the edge of the hole, leave enough space so that you can stick your finger underneath a flap of fabric on the outside. Now sew the rectangles to the inside of the shirt.

STEP 7: Take your black yarn and roughly zigg-zagg it along the white rectangles. Aline however you like while you wait for the glue to heat up. After you've got the yarn lined up glue it under the flap of shirt fabric, be sure to glue the yarn to both the white and shirt fabrics. Then place the yarn the other way so that the two pieces of yarn intercet and make X's. Glue this piece into place the same way that you did the first time. This is optional, but you can also glue the yarn pieces to each other then to the fabric. I decided to not glue it at all. :D

BEFORE ---v

AFTER ---v

STEP 8: Now you're finished and ready to wear the shirt! XD If you like you can make your shirt look more like the real thing by making a turtle neck and sewing it to the neckline. I guess that's optional but I would strongly suggest that you use a turtleneck in the beginning. :)

BEFORE----^

AFTER----^

Enjoy your completed Pandora Hearts Cheshire Cat shirt! ^w^ please stick around for more Cheshire tutorials! I won't be doing a pants tutorial though, for my cosplay I'll be using a pair of form fitting yoga or dance pants. The pants shouldn't cost more than 10-15 dollars if you're buying a pair of cheap yoga pants.

Speak Up so I can Listen

Hey everyone. If you would like me to do a tutorial for a certain Item that you can't find anywhere on the net or in the stores send me a request! I would love to get any sort of requests from anyone. So speak up now or I'm going to run out of tutorials! XD

Mini Hats on a Budget

This is a really easy and simple way to make those tiny hats that you often see Ceil from Black Butler wear. I'm not going to post a tutorial video for this one, but I will if enough people bug me about it. :)

STEP 1: You're gonna have to find a reference pic for whichever hat you want to make, but this is how I made my Magnet Miku hat that she wears on her headphones.

STEP 2: Gather your materials:
  • Colored Fabric (depending on what your hat looks like you will need different colored fabric)
  • An empty cake mix box or any other useable thin cardboard
  • A ruler
  • A pen, pencil, marker, or anything that you can use to draw out your pattern
  • Scissors
  • Necessary decorations for your hat
  • Regular glue, hot glue, or fabric glue, maybe all three
  • Duct Tape
STEP 3: Estimate how tall you want your hat to be. Mine is about 4 to 5 inches tall but I think that's a bit out of proportion for me. :) So do whatever you think is proportional for yourself. The length should be from the top crease to the bottom crease of the box, which should measure to be about 10 inches long. For the rim of the hat I used just a plain 2D circle. You can try to make an actual 3D rim but for starters just use the 2D circle. To find out how big you want the rim to be cut out and roll up your rectangular cardboard piece. Place the cylinder wherever you are going to trace out your circle and trace your circle. Make sure that the edge of the circle is about 1 inch away from the cylinder.

STEP 4: Now you have two separate pieces of cardboard, the cylinder and the circle. Before gluing these two pieces together take your fabric of choice and measure and cut out a rectangular piece for the cylinder, two circle pieces for your rim, and a smaller circle for the top of the hat. Take your two circular pieces and glue them on top and bottom of your circle. Then glue the rectangular piece to the cylinder.

STEP 5: Take your cylinder and place a bit of duct tape inside so that the hole on the bottom is covered and the sticky side is facing you. Put a bit of hot glue around the edge of the tape then place it centered on your rim (the circle). Let the glue cool, tip the hat upside down and gently shake it to make sure that the two pieces are secure. If the cylinder falls off apply more glue.

STEP 6: Now it's time to decorate! o(^▽^)o Add any sort of decoration that your hat needs. Since the bottom of your hat doesn't have a hole it's really easy to glue it to a head band or hair clips. Just make sure to use hot glue to secure it.

I hope this tutorial did you some good. Please leave a comment and tell me how this worked out for you. Please leave questions too, they help me improve my tutorials. Thanx everyone!

Vocaloid Arm Warmers :D

This tutorial can be used for any arm warmer needs that you have....I think....^_^; But I do know that you can use it for at least all of the Vocaloids that have arm warmers. Ex. Kagamine Twins, Miku, Luka, ect. The steps are the same it's just that you'll need to change the colors, add/take away a few things, or change the pattern a little bit. :) You can use this tutorial for leg warmers as well, just adjust the measurements add whatever you need and shoopah! Awesome leg warmers.

STEP 1: If you know who Miku or whichever Vocaloid your cosplaying as looks like then you shouldn't need one. But here's a couple anyway. ; )

http://www.giantbomb.com/hatsune -miku/3005-7367/
http://arisacosplayblog.weebly.com/hatsune-miku-default1.html

STEP 2: Gather your materials:

  • Black Fabric
  • Colored Fabric (The color depends on which Vocaloid you're cosplaying as I'm doing Rin, so I'll be using a yellow/goldish color)
  • Elastic, preferably wide but any will do
  • Flexible Measuring Tape
  • Scissors
  • sewing machine or thread and needle
  • Clear Vinyl
  • White Printer Paper
  • A Pen, Pencil, Marker, or anything else that you can use to draw out your pattern
  • Arm Warmer printout (Here's are links to two fairly good pics, pick whichever one you like best: http://dramakana26.deviantart.com/art/Vocaloid-Arm-Design-185960657 http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=218568)
STEP 3: Now we're going to make the pattern. The pattern shape should be composed of a rectangle and two triangles. The height of the pattern should measure up to be (for Rin) from your elbow to about where you can still see the tips of you four fingers. For Miku the sleeve should measure from about your mid upper arm down to where you can still see you four fingertips. The botton width can vary but the top will be the circumference of your upper arm plus two extra inches for seam allowance.

STEP 4: After you've got your pattern measured properly and cut out, take your black fabric, fold the fabric in half, and pin your pattern to it. Then cut out your pattern, there should be two cut-outs of your pattern (one for each arm). If you're making your whole Vocaloid cosplay, or any other cosplay that has matching arm warmers the same color as on the cosplay, from scratch I would suggest that you make sure to use fabric from the same batch or else your color shades won't match.

STEP 5: Now it's time to cut out your colored bands. First make a pattern for your bands. It should measure to be three inches high and the length of either the top or bottom of your sleeve, depending on which bands you're cutting out. When you have your pattern cut out pin it to your fabric, which should be folded in half, and cut your pattern out so that you have two bands when you unpin the pattern from the fabric. Repeat this step for the other set of bands. If the arm warmers that you're making don't have colored bands then use the same fabric for the top band and hem the bottom. If they have some other kind of embellishment or decoration shoot me a comment with a pic and I will see if I can make a tutorial for the decorations.

STEP 6: Now to sew the colored bands to your arm warmer. For the top bands I find it easier to thread the elastic through as you're sewing. Of course I do most of my sewing by hand, so if you have a machine please comment and tell me how you would thread the elastic through. Then for the bottom bands you sew straight across. Now before you actually sew the bands you'll have to fold and pin them. First, choose which side is going to be the front and which is going to be the back. Then you'll pin one edge of the colored fabric to the edge of the black fabric so that there is no colored fabric hanging off of the edge of the black and unpin then repin it in place about half an inch below the edge. Then fold the colored over the edge so that there should be about an inch and a half is hanging over the edge. Before you pin the other side, fold the unpinned edge half an inch then pin using the pins that you used for the other side. Then sew band in place. Repeat for all bands.

STEP 7: Set aside your arm warmer and get out your clear vinyl. You'll be cutting a rectangle piece for the electronic looking things on the front. Your vinyl size will depend on your arm warmer size. But you want to place it so the top of the vinyl is 2-4 inches away from the bottom of your top band and only an inch or two away from the top of your bottom band. The width of your vinyl should be about half the width of your arm warmer. I sewed mine on by hand but I think sewing it with a machine is a lot better because the vinyl on mine is kind of loose because I sewed it on by hand. Ok, when sewing you want to leave the top unsewed so that you can slip the paper into the pocket that you've made with the vinyl.

STEP 8: Now that you've sewed your bands and vinyl to the main piece take your two edges and pin them so that they are inside out. Pin your edges and then sew along your edge. Make sure to pull the two ends of the elastic so that the upper band fits around your arm comfortably. Then cut the excess elastic though make sure to leave half an inch so that you can sew your elastic to the fabric. Sew the edges and the elastic when that's done take your arm warmer and flip it inside out so that you can see the vinyl and the seams are not showing.

STEP 9: Print out the arm warmer picture, slip it into the vinyl pocket. If it doesn't fit correctly, DO NOT RESEW! Either cut the paper or adjust the size on the computer and print it out again.

STEP 10: Repeat steps 3-9 as many times as you need/want. You might want to repeat step 2 if you're trying to mass produce for friends. :)

And there you go! A completed arm warmer just for you or a friend! I hope this tutorial has been helpful to you. It took me a really long time to write this tutorial, almost two months! So enjoy your arm warmer, comment and tell me what you liked about my tutorial. I would love to receive requests from anyone and everyone. :D

Miku's Leek :D

Alright, here is an awesome tutorial from me, awesomerichgirl$$, on how to make Miku's leek. This is something that is very easy to make and it doesn't take very much skill to complete. :)

STEP 1: A reference pic is not necessary but here's one for those of us that just need one. :)

STEP 2: Gathering materials, Here is a list of stuff that you will need to get:
  • A Small bowl
  • A bottle of Elmer's Glue (for this project you can also use paper mache if you like)
  • News paper
  • Office tape
  • Blank White Paper, preferably printer paper because it's easier to work with
  • Scissors
  • Wax Paper
  • A Cardboard Tube, like the ones left over after you use a roll of paper towels or gift wrap
  • Dark Green, Light Green, and White craft paint
  • A Craft Paint Brush

STEP 3: Take your stack of white printer paper and cut them into strips about 1 inch wide. They can range from 1-2 inches if you would like. After you have done this put your stack off to the side, we'll use them later.

STEP 4: Now to make the rough shape of your Leek, take your news paper and wrap it around your cardboard tube. You can make your Leek as long or short as you like. I would recommend it to be at least as long as your arm. Each time the news paper goes around put a dab of glue to keep the news paper from unraveling. You can either glue or tape the end of the news paper once there's three or four layers of news paper around the cardboard tube. Now make another news paper tube about half the length of your first. This tube will be the part that protrudes off to one side of your leek.

STEP 5: You should have the longer paper tube still on the cardboard tube and the shorter one off to the side. Take the smaller tube and tape it a little more than half way up the longer tube, so it looks like the shorter one is merged with the longer one. Don't worry if it looks a bit odd because in the next step we'll get rid of it.

STEP 6: Next take the Elmer's Glue and pour half of the bottle in to your small container/bowl. Take your strips of paper and coat them in the glue one at a time. After you coat one strip in glue place it on the news paper. Make sue that it's all smooth and that there's no bumps or anything like that. Keep repeating this process until there is NO NEWS PAPER SHOWING because if there's news paper showing it'll look tacky, and that's not the look that we want. ^^;

STEP 7: After you've covered the whole thing with no news paper showing I would go over and add another one or two layers just for durability. After you've done that you let it dry, you can put it outside if it's sunny, or you can leave it inside near a fan, or you can blow dry it on a cooler setting. It takes about half an hour to an hour depending on how many layers you put on. It may take a longer or shorter amount of time depending on which method you chose.

STEP 8: Now the fun part! Painting! :D I would suggest that you pair the whole thing white, then paint the connection part light green and the rest of the top dark green. Let the paint dry before taking your leek off of the cardboard tube. Keep adding layers of paint until it looks like how you want it to look. :) You can use craft sealer if you want, I don't use it personally just because I don't want to buy a thing of craft sealer, use it once and then have to throw it away because of disuse. :P

Okay! Now you have an awesome looking Miku Leek to use for whatever reason you decided to use it for. :) I will try to get the tutorial vid up as soon as I can, but I have no idea when that will be. ^-^;

Cheshire's Scarf From Pandora Hearts

Here's my tutorial for Cheshire's scarf from Pandora Hearts.

STEP 1: Find a reference pic like this one: http://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=Cheshires+cat%27s+scarf+Pandora+Hearts&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&docid=otUwn5nIIwYphM&tbnid=ay53qsgn6mM_wM:&ved=&url=http%3A%2F%2Fneluna09.deviantart.com%2Fart%2FCheshire-Cat-213390550&ei=SYVpUbWWPKSQiAKk64CoDQ&bvm=bv.45175338,d.cGE&psig=AFQjCNGvrXgGLUaltcBlAuBKiVWOfwr2pA&ust=1365956298490998

STEP 2: Here's a list of supplies that you will need:

  • Black material (Depending on where you live the kind of fabric will vary, If you live somewhere cold you'll need a thicker material than some who lives in the desert)
  • Black thread
  • Two medium or large jingle bells (the size of the bells depend on what you want, Im going to use a slightly larger bell than the one that I used for the choker)
  • Red ribbon (preferably use the same shade that you would use for the choker)
  • Blank printer paper or any kind of scrap paper
  • Scissors
  • Office tape
  • A pencil, pen, or anything that you can use to draw your pattern with

STEP 3: Measure around your chest, around one side so that the tape measure goes around one shoulder and under the opposite arm. If you're female make sure to measure your chest when it's bound, or else you'll have the wrong measurements. After you've measured around your chest measure out how long you want your scarf to be. I have mine stopping just above my ankles. Now decide on how wide you want your scarf to be. Mine is about 5 inches wide, make sure to add at least an inch for seam allowance.

STEP 4: Now take your measurements and start making your pattern. I taped a bunch of different sheets of paper together to make mine. After you're done tracing your pattern cut it out and place it on a folded piece of black fabric. Then pin the pattern to the fabric and cut out the pattern, then unpin the pattern and pin just the two pieces of fabric together.

STEP 5: Now sew the scarf part, not the part that raps around your torso. Because if you do that then you will have to start all over from scratch. And that would suck for you to have to start all over and waste fabric. Before you do this next part make sure to flip the scarf inside out or else you'll have to start over, sew the top of the scarf where the wrap around part meets the scarf part. Also do not sew the bottom of your scarf, because if you look at the picture you can see that the bottom of the scarf is puffed up a bit. So to get that look you'll need to get some left over batting or something else that you can stuff the bottom of your scarf with. Here's some advice though, don't use anything that will weigh down the scarf considerably, or you won't want to wear it during any cons because you won't want to haul around all of that extra weight. Of course that's just my option, if you would like to carry around a few extra pounds with you as some sort of work out then good for you! Now to sew the top part where it wraps around I decided to just hem it and sew the ends together.

STEP 6: Now to do what I mentioned in the last step, after you've sewn everything stuff the end of the scarf so you get that slightly puffy look. It's optional to sew the ends, just make sure to leave at least two inches on the bottom because you want it to look like it's only been tied with the red ribbon. When you tie the ribbon the end of the scarf you need to attach the bell somehow. I would sew the bell onto the tied ribbon but you can hot glue it or however it works for you.

STEP 7:  You have now completed one side of your scarf!!! Yey! Now it's time to make the other side. repeat Steps 4-6 and you'll have the other side of your scarf!

STEP 8: Now take your two completed sides of Cheshire's Scarf and put them on. Make sure that they're on different sides so that they intercept to make an "X" across your chest. Have a friend help you pin the two scarf parts together so that when you take it off the "X" will still be there.

STEP 9: Now that you have your scarf parts pinned to each other, it's time to sew 'em together! Make sure that you're not sewing the front and back of the scarf together, because if that happens then you won't be able the wear your scarf. You can sew them together however you want, though I would recommend that you sew along the edges so that you get a diamond shape.

Yey! Now you're done and you have a Cheshire Cat scarf from Pandora Hearts! Enjoy, and stay tuned for more tutorials! On another note. . . sorry you guys but I haven't been able to get my videos posted yet, so just please be patient with me and I'll try to get them up as soon as possible.

Okay! Well here's the video for this tutorial. I was finally able to get it posted and as a bonus it didn't take me too long either! Cheshire's Bell Ribbon Necklace Thing XP

Hey everyone, I'm going to start with something really simple. This tutorial will be for Cheshire's Bell Necklace Thing from Pandora Hearts. (yeah, not quite sure what to call it =_=) This tutorial is for Cheshire's necklace as a choker instead of an actual necklace. You can still use this tutorial for it, though you can change the length of the ribbon to suit your needs. If you don't understand what to do by the written instructions watch the video that is posted and the end of the written tutorial.

STEP 1: You'll need to find some sort of reference pic if you don't know who Cheshire is or what the necklace ribbon thing looks like. Click the link below for an example:
http://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=cheshire+cat+necklace+from+pandora+hearts&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&docid=xJDgHWfJBABGRM&tbnid=2xXA6To-nmK-oM:&ved=0CAQQjB0&url=http%3A%2F%2Fsylvia65charm.deviantart.com%2Fart%2FCheshire-Pandora-Hearts-152875277&ei=XFdjUaHYMuqwiQKiv4GoCA&bvm=bv.44990110,d.cGE&psig=AFQjCNGD0zaKXHGzIniC3Lrp7J_tKnOx8A&ust=1365551317026210

STEP 2: Supplies that you'll be needing are as follows:

  • Wide Red Ribbon
  • Needle and Thread (Preferably the same color as your ribbon but you can use black too, I did)
  • A Flexible Measuring Tape
  • Velcro, a Clasp, or something else to hold the two ends of your ribbon together
  • Hot Glue Gun and Hot Glue (Optional)
  • Medium Sized Jingle Bell (It can be smaller or bigger if you want it to be)
  • Scissors

STEP 3: Take the flexible measuring tape and measure the circumference of your neck. Then take that measurement ant add about 1-2 inches. You will use these extra inches to fold over the ends of your ribbon so it won't fray. After you have the measured the ribbon cut it to that length.

STEP 4: Make sure that you didn't make any mistakes in cutting the ribbon, wrap it around your neck to make sure that it fits. After you have done that, bend the ends of the ribbon onto itself. Then cut a small square of Velcro and hot glue it to the folded ends of the ribbon. If you're using a clasp or hook, sew one part of the clasp or hook to one of the ribbon ends and the other part to the other end.

STEP 5: If you used the Velcro and hot glue method make sure to let the hot glue dry completely before trying it on for size. Now you're going to take your medium sized jingle bell and hand sew it to the ribbon. Make sure to put on the ribbon and decide on where you want the bell to be. It should be somewhere close to the middle, right where the middle of your neck is. Then hand sew it to the spot where you would like it to be. After you finish I would dab a bit of hot glue on the inside where your thread is so then the thread won't come undone and ruin all of your work and make you have to sew the bell back on. Or worse having the bell fall off during a con. *shutter* That would be worse. =~=

Alright! Well now you're done! XD Comment and tell me if this helped you or not because through everyone's comments and such I can make my tutorials better! ^_^ If you would like to see more of my work I will be trying to get my YouTube page up and running. Right now I'm having troubles with my computer cause it won't let me post my tutorial vids on YouTube. : / Which is why you guys will have to wait to get any of my tutorial vids. So, thank you for your patience with me and my computer problems. : D

Yey! I finally was able to make the tutorial vid for this one! :D Here it is! Also, if you're not able to watch the vid from where I posted it, here's a link to the vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XG95LPvtyc4
